Why we exist
Today the information foreigners need is scattered — across social media and a maze of disconnected chat groups, each run by a different person for a different topic or corner of the islands. The same questions get asked over and over, recommendations are hard to trust, nothing is searchable or translated, and no single place holds it all together. We bring it into one calm, reliable, multilingual home — while sending full credit and traffic back to the local media and businesses we point to, and leaving those lively chat groups to do what they do best.

Who we are
Azores Expats is a small, independent project run by one family, for free — shaped along the way with fellow foreigners who live here and shared what they were missing.
Our connection to the islands goes back three decades and now spans three generations: the first moved here for good many years ago, the second has kept a part-time home here since, and a third has now joined the family. We have been through what this site is about — arriving as foreigners and slowly making a distant place home.
We work on the mainland, not here, so the site does not need to earn anything — not from you, not from advertisers, not from the businesses it lists. No fees, no ads, no commercial agenda. We built it for the community we are part of, as the kind of clear, multilingual resource we would have found useful ourselves.
We stay in the background on purpose. It is not about us; it is about making island life a bit easier for other people who came from elsewhere and chose these nine islands.
