Azores Expats

Members near you

Find other foreign residents by area or shared interest — you reach out yourself.

How members meet. This is where foreign residents find each other — on a hike, over a repair job, at a language table. Browse by area to see who lives near you, or by an interest you share. There's no feed to scroll and no algorithm: you spot someone, you message them yourself, and it goes from there.

How this stays fair & safe. You can only search an interest that you have listed yourself, or your own nationality — so nobody can trawl the community for a target group to sell to. While browsing you see only a member's first name and island — never their full name, concelho, address, phone, or photo. Their full name appears only once you're in a conversation. You can switch off “findable by area” in My profile. Photos are never shown in search — one only appears inside a conversation, if the member allows it, with many choosing “mutual reveal.” You always make first contact yourself; the other person chooses whether to reply, and can block or report at any time.

What people use it for
  • Pool demand — several part-timers together can make a local producer's regular delivery (fresh eggs, veg boxes) worth their while, where one household alone couldn't.
  • Lend & borrow — a car trailer or tools that sit idle while you're away get used by a neighbour who needs them, arranged directly between you.
  • Shared interests — find members on your island who fish, hike, sail or play table tennis, and take it from there.
  • Share the school run — team up with nearby families on the drive into Ponta Delgada, so no one does it alone every day.
