Azores Expats is a free, independent community for foreigners living on the Azores. By using it you agree to these terms, which exist to protect the trust the whole platform depends on.
Who can join
Membership is for adults (18+) who actually live on the Azores. You register under your real name — this is the foundation of trust here, and the reason members can rely on one another.
Your account
Give accurate information, keep your login secure, and use one account for yourself only. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
How to behave here
- No advertising or soliciting. This is a community, not a marketplace to push your own services — with the single exception of the Jobs board, where posting is expressly allowed.
- Disclose connections. If you recommend a business you're connected to, say so.
- No kickbacks. Don't take or offer payment for recommendations.
- Honest reviews only. Write only about your own first-hand experience, under your real name. No fake, paid or retaliatory reviews.
- Be respectful. Treat other members — and the islanders and businesses discussed here — fairly and courteously.
- Don't scrape or export. The directory and member information are for members' own use, not for harvesting, resale or bulk export.
Content and reviews
You keep responsibility for what you post and grant us permission to display it within the platform. We may edit, hide or remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend accounts that do. Reviews are members' honest personal opinions — a starting point for your own judgement, not a guarantee.
The directory is neutral
Public directory listings are compiled from openly available information and carry no endorsement or ranking by us. Reputation comes only from members' own ratings and reviews. A listing appearing here does not mean we vouch for that business.
Not professional advice
Guides, articles and member discussions are general information, not legal, tax, financial, medical or immigration advice. Always confirm anything important with a qualified professional and with the relevant official authority before acting on it.
No warranty; limits of liability
The platform is provided "as is". We work hard to keep information accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee it, and live data (flights, ferries, weather) is shown for convenience only — always check the official source before you travel. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or your dealings with other members or businesses.
Changes
We may update these terms as the platform develops and once they have been legally reviewed. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
